LYMM 10 WEST PARK 19
IN this North Division Two game West Park Bramhope had to dig deep into their reserves to overcome a physical challenge from a Lymm side who despite their lowly league position are a tough nut to crack on their own soil.
Playing into the wind Park conceded a penalty at the first line-out but the kick was missed. The visitors went up the other end and Jon Hall then missed two kickable penalties. A missed tackle in midfield allowed Lymm to go 50 yards and from the resulting scrum they forced over for an unconverted try.
Hall got the visitors on the board with a penalty and although the backs struggled the pack, ably led by skipper Howard Greenwood, started to get on top.
Going into the second-half 5-3 down Park started in determined fashion and moved the home pack about the pitch. They were held up over the line but were rocked back by a breakaway try as passing broke down on half-way.
Jon Hall slotted over two more penalties as Lymm started to lose their discipline.
With the gap cut to one point Park's persistence started to pay off and ten minutes from the end scrum-half Glen Kilvington forced his way over after another forward barrage with Hall converting,
The floodlights had to be turned on in the gloom but the light remained long enough for fly-half Matt Stevens to pop over a drop goal to seal victory for Park - their sixth in succession. This win cemented third spot behind Bradford and Bingley and Driffield.
