Phoenix Reserves were unlucky not to come away with a least a point after going down 2-1 to Westbrook.
In the first half they created the better chances with both Colin Horsfield and Stuart Hudson going close, but they were caught on the break and Westbrook converted both their chances to go in at the interval 2-0 up.
At half time Paul Linyard came on to bolster the midfield and he had an immediate impact when he was involved in the build up that lead to Roy Mason volleying the locals back into the game. However, despite constant pressure Phoenix could not force an equaliser, the closest they came was when Linyard's effort came back off the post.
Phoenix's first team match against Storthes Hall was postponed.
