A Yorkshire Terrier from Keighley got a lesson he wasn't expecting after 'tailing' his owner's daughters to school.
However, the miniature pooch - now in the hunt for the title of Britain's luckiest pet - learned only a lesson in survival.
Firstly the terrier, named Scamper, narrowly escaped death by avoiding the wheels of heavy traffic. Then he survived for six days without food and home comforts before being discovered under a shed.
But Scamper's unpleasant adventure could lead to a holiday for his owner Barbara Pickles, who now finds the terrier in line to be named the nation's luckiest pet.
As one of ten finalists across the country, Scamper wins three years' free pet insurance from Direct Line which launched the search. And, if he proves the luckiest, he could win his owners a luxury four-star weekend in the Cotswolds.
