Keighley Albion are hoping for a bumper crowd to cheer them on this Saturday when the road to Wembley starts at Crossflatts.
Albion take on Barnsley side Dodworth in the first round of Rugby League's premier competition. One of the 'perks' of being a National Conference side is automatic entry into the first round with the professional clubs entering at the third round stage.
Albion made local sporting history two years ago when they became the first Keighley amateur side to make it through to the second round by defeating Leigh East away. They were rewarded with a trip to top Warrington outfit Woolston Rovers where, after giving a good account of themselves, eventually went down 28-6.
Gary Moorby said: "The inclusion of amateurs in the Challenge Cup has given thousands of players from the grassroots a chance to taste the magical atmosphere of the competition.
"Two of our players, Wayne Smith and Dean Brooks have Silk Cut Man of the Match winners medals from two seasons ago. I'm sure they are among their most prized possessions and so they should be."
The match starts at 1.30pm to allow for extra time, if it is needed. If scores are still level after extra time the Golden Point rule comes into force where the next point scored will win the game.
