A NEW £100,000 classroom extension at St Oswald's C of E Primary School at Guiseley was opened by a former member of the teaching staff on Monday morning.
In all there are three classrooms and a shared area.
Two of the classrooms have been converted from existing classrooms while a third has been newly built on part of a former playground.
Head teacher Pamela Woodhead said she was delighted the extension was now open and that children would be able to have lessons in a classroom.
"Children have been working in every nook and cranny we could find including the hall," she said.
"It has been a difficult term so far but it has all be worth while," she added.
Year three children who arrived at the school from Guiseley Infant School in September are now installed in the new classroom.
Work began on the extension on September 2 and was completed last Thursday, November 26.
Roy Stevenson, chairman of the school governors said he was pleased the extension had been completed. "This building was put up very quietly which was difficult," said Mr Stevenson.
June Fisher, who retired from the teaching staff two years-ago, performed the opening ceremony which was attended by Bill Moore, former head teacher at the school.
