ERMYSTED'S and Skipton Girls' High remain the top state schools in North Yorkshire in the latest set of figures.
Ermysted's pupils taking A levels had an average score per pupil of 28.8. The system is widely used by universities with an A grade scoring 10 points, down to an E grade which scores 2. The average score at Skipton Girls' High is 22.6, at Settle High 16.1 and South Craven 14.7. Among the independent schools Giggleswick scored 22.1
The results again show that North Yorkshire is the top area in the north for educating your child, judged on exam results.
Only Buckinghamshire, Kingston upon Thames, Sutton, Windsor and Barnet rank above North Yorkshire.
"North Yorkshire's communities believe in high standards and hard work. This comes through in the work of the schools and the county council's services which support them," said Cynthia Welbourn, director of education for North Yorkshire.
