Bradford Bulls have released centre Kevin Crouthers on a 12 month loan deal to Super League new boys Wakefield Trinity.
It is the latest cost-cutting measure following the club's spending spree in recent months and winger Andy Hodgson plus Great Britain second-rower Sonny Nickle could follow in the next few days.
Bulls spokesman Stuart Duffy said: "We feel Kevin needs regular Super League rugby and he is unlikely to get that at Odsal next season.
"Wakefield are in need of players of quality and the deal suits all parties. We feel Kevin will come back a much better player."
A big future was predicted for Crouthers following his move to Odsal from Dews-bury in a £60,000 deal in May 1997.
But despite scoring a fine try in last seasons' play-off defeat at St Helens he has struggled to make an impact, being restricted to just 15 senior appearances including ten as a substitute.
