A Bradford business organisation has helped a firm in the city win new orders in Korea.
Despite the collapse of the Far Eastern economies, Business Link Bradford & District was able to point Bingley-based Anderton International in the right direction.
The firm, which employs 260 people, manufactures high-quality parts for the automotive industry.
The company approached Business Link in April looking for a list of specialist partners in Korea.
Geoff Haigh, sales manager at the firm, said: "We needed a list of agents and distributors in Korea and approached Business Link who provided us with top quality information from the British Embassy in Seoul.
"The economic situation in Korea is not good, but the report helped us determine the state of the market and provided us with some useful contacts.
"We have visited Korea and Japan and plan to appoint distributors."
The company expects its exports to grow so much the business will become 75 per cent of its turnover.
Ian Tarrant, of the Korean desk at the Department of Trade and Industry, said: "Korea is actively seeking foreign investment.
"The economic crisis that has affected the area is expected to bottom out soon and growth should be as much as 2.2 per cent by late 1999."
Neil Wilson, Government Office representative at Business Link in Bradford added: "Anderton International is one of many companies benefiting from properly researching their export markets. Companies wanting to find new contacts overseas should get in touch."
Firms seeking contacts should contact Sam Grundy at Business Link Bradford & District on 01274 751385.
