Former Pudsey Congs and Yorkshire Seconds all-rounder Jamie Hood, pictured right, who was paralysed in a car accident in Cape Town earlier this year, will benefit from a 20-overs-a-side cricket match to be held at Burley-in-Wharfedale CC's ground on Boxing Day (10am).
It is hoped that the match will raise around £1,500 for Jamie, who has now left Pinderfields Hospital at Wakefield and is in special accommodation back home at Marske, and the game received an early financial boost today with a donation of £500 from Brett's fish and chip restaurant and shop in North Lane, Headingley.
Yorkshire Cricket Development Officer Tony Bowry will field his Select XI against a team from Burley-in-Wharfedale CC and other Aire-Wharfe League players, as well as some celebrities.
Former Yorkshire captain Phil Carrick has agreed to play, and others invited to take part include Peter Hartley, Neil Hartley and Gareth Batty, now with Surrey.
