ON Saturday the Wharfedale billiards and snooker teams travelled to Leeds No 2 for their Autocolour Yorkshire Inter-District League game at Pudsey Conservative Club.
The below strength billiards team suffered a setback being beaten 5-2. Both Paul Anderton and Jack Parker were unavailable for this game.
Mick Miles kindly stepped in at the last moment but was unfortunately drawn against the oppposition's best player Alan Stubbs who played to form and won easily 200-578.
Dave Richardson's good run came to an end when he lost 200-156 to Mark Ikin but Steve Crosland easily defeated Ken Steel 200-53 with breaks of 45 and 54.
The snooker team gained a 3-3 draw. they were also understrength and were indebted to Andy Harris who was prepared to make a last minute debut. Andy Blamire, as he often does, shared the frames with John Kitchen 30-61, 74-27. Richard Brooke had a 2-0 win over Leeds captain Paul Jackson winning 52-45, 46-35. Stuart Ainley squared the match for Leeds beating Andy Harris 59-35, 58-28.
Wharfedale's next match is at the Dragons Club, Yeadon, on Sunday, January 3, when Huddersfield No 1 will be the visitors. This will be an important encounter for the billiards team as Huddersfield are the current leaders.
