THE future of Otley's Victorian Fayre is no longer clouded by uncertainty, say organisers.
There had been fears that the traditional fayre would be axed after this year, but organisers, pleased at this year's event, say next year's event is to go ahead as usual.
A spokesman for the Victorian Fayre Committee, said: "The Victorian Fayre is still very much alive and kicking. Last Friday's Fayre went very smoothly even with the rain which kept trying to fall during the evening."
Organisers welcomed the success of the event, which raised £3000 for the Breast Cancer Research Unit at Leeds General Infirmary.
The fancy dress competition was won by Otley Library, with Yorkshire Bank coming second and the Wharfedale Observer and the Academy Florists third.
The winner of the charity shop window was Help the Aged, with Sue Ryder in second place and the PDFA coming third.
Staff at NatWest bank were also celebrating after winning first place in the banks and building society category.
Otley Library won the business window competition, Hudson's butchers came second and Academy Florists third. Wilkinson's butchers was the
overall winner.
Volunteers are invited to join the committee, which is holding its annual general meeting on February 1 at the Red Lion at 7.30.
