STUDENTS from Ilkley Grammar School have recently launched their own company under the auspices of the Young Enterprise Scheme.
The company, called 'Event Horizon' will now provide a service to the public where it will organise events.
Event Horizon involves 11 students, aged from 16 to 17, working as a team and taking on roles usually associated with corporate giants. They have all been elected to form a board of directors and assistant directors.
To market and finance the service shares in the company have been sold to fellow students, friends and relatives.
The employees of the company hope to achieve an understanding of the business through practical experiences and develop attitudes and skills for personal success and employability.
Young Enterprise is a national education organisation formed in 1963 to forge links between schools and industry.
Companies formed under the scheme are eligible to enter the Midland Bank Awards for the Young Enterprise Company Competition.
The competition awards prizes of £1,000, £750, and £500 to the United Kingdom's three most innovative and acclaimed companies.
