Police have launched a hunt for an armed robber following a late night mugging in Baildon.

The man detectives are looking for held what could have been a knife to a teenager's back as he walked home along Otley Road, Charlestown, demanded his money and threatened to kill him if he did not comply.

Fearing for his safety the terrified 16-year-old, who told police he glanced down to see what he believed to be the black handle of a Bowie knife, handed over his Head fabric wallet containing £35 cash.

But the robber then demanded more property, pulled the youngster's sleeve up and removed his Nike watch and a gold half sovereign ring before making off towards Shipley.

The man police are looking for is described as Asian, aged 16 to 18, 5ft 10in and chubby with a double chin, short, thick, scruffy, matted dark hair and a bushy moustache.

He spoke with what the victim described as a local accent and was wearing black Adidas tracksuit bottoms and a dark coloured, waist-length plain jacket.

Anyone with any information about the robbery, which happened at 11pm on Monday (Dec 28), should call Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
