A Pool-in-Wharfedale couple celebrated their Golden Wedding at the weekend.
Ken and Jean Horn , of Old Pool Bank, have both stayed in the area all their lives, Ken living in Bramhope and Jean at Old Pool Bank, and the couple were married at St Giles Church, Bramhope, on December 18, 1948.
Mr Horn worked until near retirement age as a chartered mechanical engineer at Rose Forgrove Machinery Company at Seacroft, followed by five years with Anchor Housing in Bradford.
They are both keen gardeners and designed their bungalow on Old Pool Bank about 45 years ago, converting their quarry, where the stone for the Houses of Parliament were taken from, into a lovely garden.
Mr Horn has been a member of Pool Parish Council and on the Old Pool Bank Village Hall Management Committee.
Mrs Horn is a keen member of Calverley Golf Club and in the 1950s was a founder member and treasurer of the Old Pool Bank Women's Institute.
They have two married daughters, Carol and Barbara, and four grandchildren, Emma, Lindsey, Robert and Ben.
