Firefighters from Keighley were called to deal with two incidents involving faulty electric sockets on Monday.
In Nightingale Street, Keighley, condensation caused by cooking ran down the walls of a kitchen into a faulty socket. It caused a short circuit which resulted in a large flash and a bang. Firemen were able to isolate the system and there was no more damage.
In Redwood Close, the fire brigade was called after the owner noticed a cracked socket was getting hot. Again the system was isolated and no further damage was caused.
A Fire Brigade spokesman warns people that sockets should be checked. "They should also be aware of overloading sockets with Christmas tree lights," he says.
Firefighters put out a blaze near Lawk-holme Lane, Keighley, after a stolen car was set on fire on Monday night. The Vauxhall Cavalier was destroyed by the blaze.
