Former Keighley councillor Noel Johns has died at the age of 94. Mr Johns died at his Hollins Lane home in Utley on Monday night.
He will best be remembered for his time as a Liberal town councillor from 1946-1967. He will especially be remembered for his work on education and youth projects.
A former pupil of Keighley Boys' Grammar School, he studied textiles at the town's Technical College before joining the family pyjama and schoolwear manufacturing firm - Johns-Craft - in 1924. He was president of the company for more than 50 years.
His other duties included serving as a magistrate, president of Keighley Rotary Club and Oakworth Youth Club, and chairman of Oakbank Grammar School. His son Stephen says: "He lived for his golf, business and charities."
Funeral arrangements will be announced in next week's Keighley News.
