A WOMAN was caught with a stolen credit card when she tried to buy cigarettes in a supermarket, a court heard.
Heather Park, 22, of King Edward Street, Sutton, pleaded guilty to handling stolen goods and attempting to obtain property by deception when she appeared before Skipton magistrates.
She also admitted breaching a conditional discharge imposed in August for shoplifting.
Sarah Tyrer, prosecuting, said Park had gone into Tesco in Skipton and handed over a credit card in payment for 20 cigarettes.
But the shop assistant was having problems with the card and Park became agitated and left the store.
When Park was traced by police she claimed she had been pressured into using the card by another person.
Jane Neild, in mitigation, confirmed this and added that Park had been told the card would be accepted by the store. She said Park had been a drug addict and was now on a course of methodone.
Magistrates ordered pre-sentence reports be compiled and remanded Park on bail until January 22.
