YEADON cricketer David Pennett topped Cumberland's bowling averages in the Minor Counties League last season.
Pennett, the Bradford and Bingley player, who spent five years with Nottinghamshire before joining Cumberland two years ago, bowled 1,142 overs and took 23 wickets for an
average of 16.61.
Horsforth born Ashley Metcalfe, who joined Cumberland last season, following a career with Yorkshire and Nottinghamshire, was third in the batting averages with 65.80. He scored 329 runs with a top score of 102.
Ashley is to skipper Pudsey St Lawrence next season having previously played for Farsley and Pudsey Congs.
Simon Kippax formerly of Rawdon had a batting average of 18.00 for Cumberland. His top score was 39.
