A brochure promoting the tourist attractions linked to the famous Bront family of Haworth is proving a best-seller.
Since the publication just before Christmas of The Bront Experience, demand has soared. At first, 20,000 copies were distributed to tourist information centres nationwide, as well as to coach and tour operators. Now there is demand for a further 10,000 copies of the brochure, which covers upper Airedale and Wharfedale, Craven and Cald-erdale.
It is published by ADVentura, the Cullingworth-based publishing arm of the marketing and public relations agency the Jackson Partnership.
ADVentura's Alida Sunder-land says requests for extra copies are coming in thick and fast. "Demand for the 1999 brochure is the biggest we have ever experienced, especially when taking into account the fact that many smaller tourist information centres are closed throughout the winter months," she says. "There have been considerably more requests for copies of the brochure and reader inquiries worldwide have been encouraging."
She says people have been asking for copies from as far away as Australia, Canada and Saudi Arabia.
The brochure is also being distributed at travel trade exhibitions by the Keighley-based tourism promotion organisation Bront Country Tourism.
It is hoped to make next year's millennium issue the biggest ever and it is hoped to persuade high-profile celebrities to contribute.
This year's brochure features pieces by BBC TV antiques expert Eric Knowles, a familiar face at East Riddlesden Hall in Keighley, and BBC Casualty star Ian Bleasdale, who lives in the Worth Valley.
Anyone wanting to include tourism-related millennium projects in next year's brochure should contact Alida on 01535 275321.
