More than 300 people attended the funeral at St Anne's Roman Catholic Church, Keighley, on Tuesday of Mary Horsfall, a member of a family of travelling people. Pictured above are some guests about to enter the church.
Born in a wagon, she was the oldest child of Tommy and Nellie Manning. The family wintered in Bradford when she was a girl and during the 1939-45 war moved to Denholme.
Mr Manning set up in business as a wagon dealer in Keighley, originally trading in horse-drawn wagons and later in motorised vehicles. At one stage the family lived in Cavendish Street, Keighley, and later moved to Riddlesden.
Mrs Horsfall, 75, leaves three sons. She and her husband Pat, who were married for more than 50 years, travelled the country, including Scotland and Ireland. Their family has settled in Ayrshire and many people travelled from Scotland for the funeral.
Interment followed at Morton Cemetery where there is a family plot. Mrs Horsfall's youngest brother Joseph Manning was buried there after being hit by a bus in Skipton Road, Keighley, in 1952 aged 22.
