A £37,715 package of traffic calming measures in Highfield is likely to get the go-ahead next week. Bradford council highways chiefs are expected to approve a 20mph zone for the Highfield area, where 14 children have been injured crossing roads in the past five years.
Speed cushions, road humps and improved street lighting are among measures to reduce the speed of through traffic in an area bordered by Devonshire Street, Drewry Road, Highfield Lane and Highfield Street.
Blacktop humps will be placed across Gordon Street, Nares Street, Nares Street Upper, Enfield Street, Argyle Street, Spencer Street, Waterhouse Street, Belgrave Road, Eagle Street, Broomfield Road, Broomfield Street and part of Wilkin Street.
Cllr Phil Thornton, chairman of the highways sub-committee, says previous traffic calming schemes have saved hundreds of people from injury.
