Yorkshire chairman Keith Moss wants to arrange a meeting at the House of Commons with all of the county's MPs in the hope that they will collectively support the club's bid for Lottery cash to redevelop Headingley cricket ground.

Moss told Yorkshire Central District members at Headingley last night that although the club was based in Leeds, the development of their headquarters was a matter of importance for the whole county.

And he revealed that he would be meeting Derek Fatchett, MP for Leeds Central and Minister of State at the Foreign Office, later this week to discuss the proposed £11 million redevelopment of Headingley.

Yorkshire will submit their bid for Sports Lottery funding by the end of this month and it will be several weeks before they know if they have been successful, but Moss stressed that it would be idle talk to say that they would receive lottery cash without other guaranteed funding and Leeds City Council was a very important player in this regard.

In reply to questions, York-shire did not categorically state that plans for the development of new headquarters at Durkar had been officially scrapped, but Moss emphasised that the club were now 100 per cent behind the redevelopment of Headingley.

David Storr, Yorkshire's marketing and membership chairman, said the total amount generated by the club's marketing department last year, including sponsorship and the day-night game, totalled over £350,000.

Wayne Morton has stood down as the club's physiotherapist because of his increasing commitments with the England team with Caryl Becker has been promoted to take his place with the first team.
