A man was killed when he was hit by a train last night.
The incident happened at around 8.15pm at Eastburn crossing near Steeton and Silsden station on the Leeds to Skipton line.
British Transport Police investigating the death say the man was aged between 20 and 30. His name is not being released until relatives had been informed.
The train involved was the Northern Spirit Leeds to Skipton service and the incident.
A police spokesman said: "An adult male aged between 20 and 30 was struck by a train and killed. There are no suspicious circumstances."
Two trains were cancelled and 13 others had to turn round short of their destination causing more than four hours of delays.
A spokesman for Northern Spirit said the service between Keighley and Skipton was suspended and buses were brought in as an alternative.
"The train involved was only carrying a few passengers and they were offered a telephone service to phone home to warn of the delay," he said.
The train staff were taken off and replaced by other personnel and the train eventually carried on to Skipton.
The driver was treated for shock at Airedale General Hospital.
