The bodies of a mother and her two-year-old daughter, who were shot by the woman's American husband, have been brought back to Bradford to be buried together.

Melanie Edwards, 33, and Carli Fay were gunned down by Carlton Edwards on November 11.

He shot himself nine days later after being captured by police on the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco.

Their bodies were flown into Manchester Airport yesterday and brought to a funeral directors in Nab Wood.

Melanie's mother, Jacqui Melvin, of Cottingley, said it was a huge relief.

"It's a very difficult time but I am relieved that we've got them home at last," she said. "The funeral directors went down to Manchester to bring them back up to Bradford.

"We're hoping to have a funeral date later this week.

"I've still got to speak to the coroner to sort things out before there is a definite arrangement."

Mrs Melvin said she was particularly grateful that her granddaughter's body was able to be flown to England.

She was worried she might have been unable to be buried with her mother in Yorkshire because she had American citizenship. She said she would be going to see her daughter and granddaughter today.
