Paul Jewell writes: I would have settled for 1-0 in the game, particularly in those conditions, but to win 4-1 is superb and a credit to the lads' performance.

Before the game I asked the players 'How much do you want this?' Crewe were always going to be a hard team to beat. The pitch was difficult, but the same for both sides, who both like to get the ball down and play.

I always saw this as a potential banana skin for us with people expecting us to win easily against a team that had won three out of their last four.

We played some great stuff. We again worked very hard and the whole team deserve credit for that.

For the third goal, Ashley West-wood made a great tackle on Jack in our area, and then we moved up the other end and scored.

Robbie Blake's goal was the first time I have ever seen a referee clap a goal. Never mind the ref though, I even clapped Blakey and that is something!

I was pleased with Ashley Westwood. On Tuesday he went home on crutches and I thought he had no chance. But he was determined to play and did very well.

The players were in yesterday which they were disappointed with, but we have to focus on the Crystal Palace game.

After playing on such a heavy pitch, it is a good way of loosening the muscles.
