The only catalogue shop in Skipton is closing down, with bosses claiming is wasn't making enough cash.
Bosses blame the poor profitability of Index Local Link, in Newmarket Street, for the premature axing of the shop after just one year.
The branch, one of a small number of satellite stores run by Littlewoods, employed one full-time and four part-time staff during its short life in the town. A spokesman said: "During 1997 the Local Link concept was developed to provide a unique service to customers and increase the number of locations in which the company could trade. Unfortunately, in Skipton, profitability has been disappointing and has not matched the company's expectations."
Eric Steel, operations director for Index, said: "The decision to close the store is in no way a reflection of the dedication and effort put in by all staff over the past 12 months."
A climbing and walking shop in Skipton has also announced it is to close down due to poor trade.
The Craven Rambler has been operating from Coach Street for the last six years, but owner David Craven says declining sales have forced him to look for pastures new.
