Bowling Old Lane, where England pace bowler Darren Gough once played, will compete in the Bradford League next season despite rumours that the club is about to fold.

Chairman Michael Hope said: "The club is involved in a series of meetings to discuss our long term future, but nothing has been decided.

"All I can confirm is that we will fulfil our fixtures next season."

The club who have suffered from vandalism and financial problems over the years have also lost some players to other clubs following their relegation from the Bradford League First Division last season.

However, skipper Adam Miller is staying and he will lead the club in the Second Division next season.

Gough played a season with Old Lane while he was emerging as a Yorkshire player. Old Lane, who joined the Bradford League in 1915, have also had other Yorkshire and England players in their ranks, including Bob Appleyard, Doug Padgett, Martin Moxon and Bill Athey as well as overseas players.

Former Essex opening batsman Gordon Barker also played at the club.
