ASHLEY ROBINSON has been called up -- as England search for a cricketing super-star.
The 18-year-old former South Craven School pupil has joined England's 'spin academy' as the nation's top coaches try to find a bowler capable of matching the Aussie spin bowlers.
He played with Keighley Cricket Club's 1st XI when he was just 15 years of age, and last year joined Steeton CC when the prospects of regular bowling action with the Lawkholme Lane club looked slim.
Now he is studying Innovation design, Business and Marketing at Derby University, and hope to play with the University cricket team when their season gets underway in the spring.
Last year he attended special coaching sessions at Headingley and at Lords, the headquarters of world cricket.
During the sessions he was coached by some of the top spin bowling coaches int he world, including Terry Jenner -- the man who taught Aussie Shane Warne the art of dismissing English batsmen.
Now Ashley is to attend a series of monthly sessions starting on Sunday and continuing in February, March and April.
