Keighley gave league leaders Embsay a real run for their money as clubs began the task of working through a huge backlog of matches.

Bright sunshine allowed most of the league programme to go ahead after weeks of rain, followed by frost which led to dozens of cancelled games.

Embsay's pitch was very wet and the home side scored an early goal, but Keighley hit back with some good football despite the difficult conditions. Embsay added a second goal before half time, but the Keighley outfit continued to look threatening.

Playing down the slope Keighley looked in with a chance until two goals from the home side finally put the game beyond doubt. The visitors finally scored a consolation goal.

Cross Hills entertained Oxenhope in a vital top of the table clash and both teams showed why they are chasing honours, playing excellent football on a heavy pitch.

Oxenhope opened the scoring with a brilliant individual goal from Paul Sewell, and he soon added a second. Not to be outdone Cross Hills replied through Nicholas Shaw who blasted Barraclough's cross home.

Hills kept up the pressure in t he second half, but could not break down Oxenhope's defence. A quick break saw Steve Murray slide the ball home to secure the points for the Worth Valley side.

Bottom of the table Cowling entertained Rimington and both sides adapted well to the sticky conditions. Both goalkeepers were called into early action, but Rimington secured a slender lead on the stroke of half time.

Cowling applied pressure from the start of the second half, but lacked penetration in front of goal. Rimington increased their lead from a set piece and although Cowling continued to apply pressure they could not find the back of the net -- though there were signs of better things to come.

Silsden entertained neighbours Cononley Sports and got off to a flying start when Matthew Bland headed home a corner after five minutes, later he added a second. Cononley battled hard but never got to grips with the sticky conditions, allowing silsden to add a third through Andy Geary to stay in touch with the league leaders.

Haworth Reserves played their first match in Division One for a number of weeks, visiting fellow strugglers Skipton Town. Despite their lowly position both teams played some good football. town dominated the early stages, but could not find the net.

Haworth broke and Mark Rowbotham scored against the run of play.

Howarth kept on top but were caught by one of Town's quick breaks for the equaliser. The second half saw Haworth battle more for the ball and after squandering chances they finally regained the lead through David Bainbridge, but Town scrambled a late equaliser.

Oxenhope Recreation Reserves entertained top of the table Hellifield Sports who were first onto the attack. Oxenhope weathered the early storm and began to get into their stride, taking the lead through Gary Fawcett.

Hellifield equalised after the break but Oxenhope piled on the pressure and regained the lead almost from the restart with Fawcett again on target. They looked to have the points in the bag until Hellfield drew level with a well taken free kick to end a sporting match.

Bronte Wanderers enjoyed the luxury of a full strength side for the first time in weeks in their home match with Embsay Reserves, and were looking to consolidate their position at the head of Division Two. However, they produced one of the worst displays of the season with Embsay looking the more dangerous side in muddy conditions. Bronte created few clear cut chances, Richard Binns going nearest with a header. Embsay made the most of their three chances to take the points in a match which cost Bronte their position as league leaders.

Second placed Sutton travelled to Horton and proved much stronger than the inexperienced young home side. Sutton were on top throughout the first half, but could not break down a stubborn defence until time was running out when Steve Reape and Steve Holden produced two sparkling goals.

The second half saw much of the same with Horton defending stoutly but unable to stop Gary Hanson and Steve Reape adding to more goals to take Sutton to the top of the table.

Silsden Reserves remain in contention after beating Keighley Reserves 3-1 with goals from Stuart Lidbury, Chris Brookes (penalty) and Adam Ackroyd.

Cowling Reserves collected a welcome point when they drew 1-1 with Skipton Bulldogs Reserves.

Lothersdale Athletic maintained their pressure at the top of Division Three when they defeated Bradley Reserves 3-0. After last week's goal feast Dale could not get into their stride and wasted many chances.

Bradley had the ball in the net, but the goal was disallowed and it was well into the second half before Phillip richardson opened Dale's account, quickly followed by two goals from Thomas richardson. More chances were wasted, but the points were always safe. However, goal difference is going to have a say in the outcome of the division and Dale cannot continue to waste chances if they are to hope for promotion.
