A woman was attacked and robbed of her fur coat as she walked along Heber Street, Keighley, on Sunday morning.

The 27-year-old was punched in the face by one woman and struck from behind by another, and was ordered to remove the coat. The two attackers then fled with the garment.

The victim was shocked but not seriously injured.

Police are appealing for anyone who was in the area at around 11.20am and may have seen something suspicious to come forward.

The first attacker is described as white, about 5ft tall, aged 18-20, with black or brown 'messy' hair and a dark complexion. She spoke with a local accent. She was wearing gold hoop-type earrings, a black fleece coat, blue jeans and trainers. Her accomplice is white, aged around 20, 5ft 6in, with dark straight hair, and was wearing a coat and dark-coloured tracksuit bottoms.

A Vauxhall Nova stolen from the residents' car park at Kennedy House, Ingrow, on Sunday was found soon afterwards about a quarter of a mile away. It is believed the vehicle had run out of petrol.

Police are seeking three men who were seen at the car around 6pm, when it was stolen.

The first is described as white, 5ft 7in, aged 17-19 and of medium build. He was wearing a yellow and black coat, dark tracksuit bottoms and a red baseball cap.

The second suspect is white, 5ft 5in, aged around 17, of medium build, with short dark hair. He was wearing a green coat and dark jeans.

The third is white, 5ft 5in, aged about 17, stockily built with bleached blond hair in a short spiky style. He was wearing a Leeds Utd tracksuit top.

A handbag was snatched from a Keighley woman in the street. The incident happened at around 6pm last Thursday while the 53-year-old was walking in the Cark Road area of Showfield. In a snicket leading off Cark Road, she suddenly felt her handbag being tugged from behind. Its shoulder strap broke and the thief ran off with the bag, despite the woman's screams and shouts for help.

The suspect has been desc-ribed as a male, of Asian appea-rance, about 5ft 6in and in his late teens. He was wearing a green, three-quarter length anorak with a tie in the middle.

Keighley Police are trying to trace the owner of a metal plaque found in Valley View at Harden. The copper-coloured plaque, about 30cm by 22cm, was handed in to police and is now at Keighley police station. It bears the words: 'The Annie Briggs Cot named by the late Alfred Ernest Briggs of Low Moor in memory of his wife'.

Police are warning women not to leave purses visible in open handbags following an incident on Monday afternoon.

An 85-year-old woman was waiting at a bus stop in Ashburn Road, Keighley, around 2.15pm when a blue car pulled up. A man got out, went up to the woman and asked for directions to a fish and chip shop. When he returned to the car, the woman realised her purse had been stolen.

The suspect is described as white, in his mid 20s, about 5ft 8in, of medium build, with dark stubble. He was wearing a burgundy baseball cap.
