The funeral is taking place today of former Silsden Civic Society secretary Dora Laycock.
Dora died in hospital at Beverley, North Yorkshire, last Friday. She had been ill for some time.
A former secretary at Allied Industrial Services in Bradford, she was secretary of the Civic Society for 11 years.
She retired from the post two years ago and moved to Beverley with her husband Ken to be near her daughter Val.
Civic Society chairman Dennis Knowles says she will be greatly missed. "She was Silsden through and through," he says.
"She also had a great knack of being able to motivate people into activity."
Treasurer Frank Place says she was a very conscientious worker. "She had the interest of the society very much at heart and was a very good secretary," he added.
Silsden Town Action Group chairman Jan Burgoyne was shocked to hear of Dora's death. "She was a lovely lady and a special friend," she says.
Mrs Laycock is survived by her husband Ken, daughter Val, son-in-law Nigel, and two grandchildren.
