Highfield has been shortlisted for a £4 million government grant to breathe new life into its community.
An outline bid from Keighley's Single Regeneration Budget bosses has been accepted by the government office responsible for regeneration funding.
Now the SRB partnership board must work up a full application in consultation with people, businesses and groups in the Highfield area.
The ambitious scheme involves restorations to run-down houses, environmental improvements and new community facilities such as play areas.
SRB board chairman Andy Mudd says the full bid must be submitted to the government officers by April.
He adds: "They like the idea. It's innovative and exciting and I'm sure we'll get the money."
