A Silsden serviceman is back on British soil after giving ground-crew support to war planes in the Gulf.
Steve Taylor, an RAF junior technician, was part of the Tornados 12 Squadron which helped launch the pre-Christmas bomb blitz on Iraqi military targets. He and his colleagues from RAF Lossiemouth were based at Ali Al Salem in Kuwait.
Although Steve, 24, has seen service worldwide during his RAF career, this was his first time in a war situation. He returned to Scotland late last week and is now on leave.
Steve, who lives in Portgordon with wife Sarah, is a former pupil of South Craven School.
He worked as a foreman for Towler and Staines, in Bradford Road, Keighley, before joining the RAF. His parents still live in Silsden.
Steve's interests include golf, cricket and squash.
