Athletics: Bingley fell running international Ian Holmes raced to victory in the seven-mile Stanbury Splash to record an unprecedented fourth event win.
Holmes must have experienced deja vu as Borrowdale's Gavin Bland tracked the local man up Ronden Kirk and on to Stanbury Moor trig point, as in last year's race.
Holmes descended rapidly along the Pennine Way with the strong wind now behind him, along with over 200 other entrants including Bland, reaching the finish at Haworth's Penistone Hill in 45min 18sec. Bland was over a minute behind, with Irish orienteering international James Logue third.
Pudsey & Bramley runners packed well to take the team award with Gary Devine in seventh five seconds ahead of team-mate Gary Oldfield.
Chumbawumba guitarist Alan Whalley clocked 50 minutes dead for tenth place and Steven Neill closed in at 15th to give them 40 points, seven fewer than second placed Bingley.
Bradford Airedale's Richard Crossland took the top veteran's award in the over 40 category as his team-mate Steve Oldfield opted out of racing the event due to a slight injury. Race organiser Dave Woodhead was third veteran after Preston's Colin Shuttleworth sprinted past him on the final approach.
In the women's race, Holmfirth's Lisa Lacon was victorious. The black belt karate instructor eventually managed to win a local race after being a runner-up on numerous occasions and followed up her win at Lands Leg in Derbyshire last week.
Ruth Dorrington and Fran Whitworth were a close second and third and with Hetta Morath, a vet 50 category, in seventh Abbey Runners were convincing team winners. Local runners to feature were Rachel Sharples of Keighley & Craven in fifth and Mary Jagen, (EPOC) in sixth. In the junior races David Shepherd came out on top in the under 12 boys mile race ahead of Mark Addison and Jack Weedon.
Penny Addison was also a runner-up in the girls' race, while Jenny Addison came out a winner in the under nine's race ahead of Sophie Young (Skyrac) and Emmy Sharples (K&C).
The third race in the West Yorkshire Winter League was another success story for Baildon's Quentin Lewish. He was a convincing winner over the promoting club's Tim Ashleford of Aireboro Triathlon. Treena Carney of Dewsbury once again took the ladies race from Skipton's highly talented youngster Sara Dugdale.
In the weekend's North of England Indoor Track and Field championships at Don Valley, Sheffield the star of the show for Bingley was Ben Manchester who took gold in both the 60 metre sprint in 7.75 seconds and 60 metres hurdles in an under 15 championship best of 9.18 seconds. Other notable performances came from Kelly Brow (2nd in triple jump) and Nicole Crosby (2nd in 60m).
