Bradford City's leading marksman Lee Mills will miss their tough Division One clash at Sheffield United on February 19 after receiving his second one-match ban of the season from the FA's disciplinary committee.
FA spokesman Steve Double said Mills was found guilty of misconduct for making "improper remarks" to a linesman during the 2-1 defeat at Huddersfield on November 21.
Mills was angered when Huddersfield were awarded the throw-in which resulted in the winning goal.
Bantams boss Paul Jewell said: "It is disappointing because Lee has only been booked 12 times in his career so we thought that would see him avoid a ban.
"I went along to say a few words in Lee's defence, as did a representative from the Professional Footballers Association."
Chairman Geoffrey Richmond added: "They told Lee that his previous exemplary record had counted in his favour.
"Lee explained what we thought were mitigating circumstances and we were hoping for a fine, but no ban.
"Instead, he got a ban but no fine. They explained they could have disciplined him by banning him for six games."
Mills was banned earlier this season after being sent off at Swindon for two bookable offences.
Meanwhile, striker Edinho is set to go on trial with a Swedish club after the clubs agreed his loan spell with Scottish side Dunfermline would end.
The Brazilian is out of favour at Valley Parade due to the form of Mills, Robbie Blake and Isaiah Rankin and has been on a three month loan spell with Dunfermline which still has a couple of weeks to run.
Edinho was only a substitute in last weekend's 2-1 victory over Partick in the Scottish Cup.
l The City players set up base in the Midlands yesterday and their build-up will include a round of golf at Ryder Cup venue The Belfry - and training at Aston Villa.
l City's league game at Crystal Palace has been put back 24 hours to Sunday, March 28 (3pm) to avoid a clash with the England v Poland match at Wembley on the previous day.
