Otley Cricket Club have apppinted Andrew Mitchell to captain their first X1 in the 1999 season.
Andrew, grandson of former Yorkshire cricketer and coach Arthur Mitchell, started his career as a junior with the Otley club.
The slow bowler then left the area but returned to play for the club for several years before playing successfully in the Bradford League for Brighouse and Yeadon.
Indeed Andrew played for Yeadon in a Priestley Cup final.
He returned to Otley two seasons ago and his vast experience - he also plays for the MCC regional side - allied to his ability as a slow bowler should help Otley to start the long climb back to former glories.
Winter nets are to be held at Woodhopuse Grove School on F riday evenings from 7.45 pm to 9.15 pm starting on February 19.
