CHILDREN from Bramhope Primary School became the first youngsters to try out the new medical scanners they raised funds to help buy.
The pupils were joined by Andrew Pearson, managing director of West Park-based financial company Pearson Jones and Co Ltd, who handed over a cheque for £4,600 in aid of the Yorkshire Children's Spine Foundation (YCSF).
Mr Pearson was sponsored by many of his clients to
complete a ten-day trek around Nepal in August last year. He covered 100 miles, descending some 40,000 feet along the way.
Mr Pearson said: "It was a super trip, never to be
forgotten, and I would like to thank all my sponsors for their generous support."
Youngsters at Bramhope Primary School also supported the YCSF, which hopes to screen 10,000 children for the degenerative spinal disorder, scoliosis, this year.
Their efforts, along with Mr Pearson's, went towards
purchasing two £40,000 portable scanners for Professor Bob Dickson and his team at St James's Hospital in Leeds to help them achieve their target.
