Run-down Cleckheaton bus station could be in line for a major revamp - or it may be moved altogether, a transport chief has revealed.
One option being considered is moving the station in Dewsbury Road to another part of the town but as yet no locations have been suggested.
Bus company Arriva, Metro and Kirklees Council - which owns part of the site - have been holding talks on improvements to the shabby station.
Some of the window panes in the shelters are missing and the paintwork is peeling. There is a small caf and a newsagent's but no other facilities.
Justin Davis, Arriva's commercial director, said: "The station does need improvements. We are looking at various options, including having a completely new building or putting the station in a different location.
"The project is still in the very early stages and will depend on funding being available.
"But there is a will and desire on the part of Arriva, Metro and Kirklees Council to see improvements carried out.''
Passenger Eva Shaw, 67, of Moorbottom, Cleckheaton, who was born and raised in the town, said: "I have been using buses all my life. My husband Jack and I don't drive so we rely on them a lot.
"I regularly use the station to come shopping in Cleckheaton and to get to other areas. It hasn't had any improvements for years and it's about time something was done.
"There's nowhere to get information about services. You have to go to Dewsbury station.''
Jawad Ali, owner of the Central News shop at the station, said: "It will be brilliant if the station is improved and remains on the same site. Customers often complain about its poor state and some passengers stand in my doorway to shelter from the rain.''
Councillor Gordon North (Lab, Spen), chairman of the Council's Spen Valley Working Party, said: "The station is an eyesore and the Council is looking at providing funding to improve its appearance but as Arriva use the station, it is up to them to carry out major improvements.''
