Henry Paul is adding to Matthew Elliott's injury worries ahead of Sunday's Super League derby with Wakefield Trinity at Odsal.

The Kiwi star, who has been in great form following his close season move from Wigan, is still being troubled by the knee injury he sustained in the league clash with Leeds Rhinos a week ago.

Paul came off the bench at St Helens to help out but the move appears to have backfired somewhat with the classy stand-off unable to join the squad in training yesterday.

"Henry is a big worry for the weekend," admitted Elliott. "At this stage he looks pretty doubtful but I will probably give him until tomorrow before making a final decision."

Mick Withers is also given only an outside chance of making it while Tevita Vaikona is the other main concern.

But Aussie back-rower David Boyle is poised to return after a rib injury.

Elliott explained: "David picked up a knock against Leeds and it did not settle down as we hoped so he missed the Saints game.

Jeremy Donougher, who was also sidelined at Knowsley Road after a nasty clash of heads with Steve McNamara against the Rhinos, was given a run-out with the Alliance side last night in an effort to push his claims for a senior recall.

Elliott has been studying opponents Trinity closely on video and has been impressed with their improvement since they suffered two early-season defeats at the hands of the Bulls in a friendly and in the fifth round of the Challenge Cup.

"I have got to say Andy Kelly has done a good job with them and has got them playing much better football.

"Glen Tomlinson is starting to come back to form and despite being 34-0 down at half-time to Wigan on Monday they never gave up."

Fans are reminded that the Trinity game sees the return to the club's traditional Super League kick-off time at Odsal of 6.00pm.

Officials will have a close eye on the gate to see what the effect their Challenge Cup exit and the mauling by St Helens has had. More than 12,000 watched their Super League opener and that rose to over 16,000 for the clash with the Rhinos.

London Broncos boss Dan Stains will renew mind games with Ellery Hanley in tonight's showdown with Super League high-fliers St Helens.

Stains and Hanley are chess partners from their days with Australian club Balmain and will be pitting their wits against each other in an eagerly-awaited clash of Challenge Cup finalists and Super League leaders at The Stoop.

The Broncos are boosted by the return of loose forward Peter Gill, hooker Robbie Beazley and second row Robbie Simpson as they seek their first-ever win over Saints.

Saints have skipper Chris Joynt, forward Vila Matautia and centre Paul Newlove all available after missing Monday's 58-14 thrashing of the Bulls.
