Striker Dean Windass is hoping to repeat the double strike he scored against Portsmouth while wearing Oxford colours earlier this season when the south coast club visit Bradford City tomorrow.
The 30-year-old, who joined City in a £950,000 deal from Oxford last month, opened his scoring account with Paul Jewell's men when he grabbed both goals in a 2-0 win over Bury last Monday.
Windass has already shown enough in his first month with City to suggest he will be a great addition to the squad.
And after scoring two goals against Portsmouth back in September when the U's won 3-0 at the Manor Ground, the striker is hoping for more of the same at Valley Parade.
He said: "The game was in front of the Sky cameras and Oxford's first win of the season. I scored two and then we managed to draw 2-2 at their place so I have had a good season against them.
"I always find that if I score against one team in a season, I usually score again. And having scored at Bury last Monday, I feel as though I will get one tomorrow, if selected.
"I got to the stage at Oxford where I felt I was going to get a goal every time I went out and played and the great thing here is I know that I will get chances in a game because we have so many creative players in this side."
Windass returned to his Yorkshire roots when he joined City after starting his career at his hometown club Hull City.
He then enjoyed a successful spell at Aberdeen before switching to Oxford during the summer in the hope that he was joining a team destined to challenge for the Premiership.
However it soon became apparent to Windass that United were in dire straits financially and his departure helped ensure the club's survival before a takeover by a London hotelier was completed last week.
And the striker feels he is settling in well with his new team-mates. "I am enjoying it. It is easier to be at Bradford City because we are at the top of the division. Now it is much more of a team effort, whereas at Oxford I was the one who had to score the goals. Everything was geared towards that.
"It is great being at a club on the up. I went to Bury with Oxford earlier in the season and there were hardly any fans there so it was like a reserve game.
"That is why it was so good to see so many last Monday. The noise they made was superb. It was a great feeling to score in front of them.
"Paul Jewell brought me in to score goals but he knows he can play me either up front or behind the front two. I feel a lot better now I have broken my duck with two goals.
"I am one of those players who, if I play all right but set a few up, then I am happy. What I don't like is if I don't play well and am still not scoring. That really bothers me."
A win tomorrow against Portsmouth will push City up into second place as rivals Ipswich Town do not play until Sunday when they travel to neighbours Norwich City.
However Windass insists that City cannot pay too much attention to what Ipswich do and just concentrate on their own jobs.
"You just have to keep on playing and don't allow yourself to get too bothered about Ipswich. If they win every week there is nothing we can do about it. People keep saying that we have the better run-in on paper, but teams at the bottom of the league are just as hard to beat as anyone at the top.
"We are confident though. This club has changed a lot since I played here with Hull. There was just a shed down one side of the ground."
