Miss Christine M Houseman
YOUNG farmers, family and friends attended the funeral of Christine M Houseman at Otley Methodist Church last Thursday.
Miss Houseman, a member of Lindley Parish Council and well known in agricultural circles, was born in the village and worked throughout her life as a partner on the family farm.
Seven past chairmen of the Farnley Estate Young Farmers Club, of which Miss Houseman was a founder member and later club leader, acted as pall bearers and read lessons at the funeral service.
Miss Houseman was well known throughout the young farmers movement for taking part in all competitions for more than 30 years and she was a keen supporter of the Farnley Estate group.
She was a regular attender at Norwood Chapel where she was christened and continued to go as a Sunday School scholar, chapel member, Sunday School teacher and
treasurer.
Cookery was one of her interests and she attended Horsforth College where she gained her City and Guilds certificate in Catering.
This led her on to qualify firstly as a produce judge and later as a national produce judge for the Womens Institute.
Her qualification took her to many shows throughout Yorkshire including Otley Show where she was chairman of the produce section.
Christine was very well known in the local community where she could be relied upon to attend and help at all gatherings.
Mrs Barbara Wright
BARBARA Wright of London Lane, Little London, Rawdon, who has died aged 73, had been a prominent worker for Trinity Church, Rawdon, for many years.
Mrs Wright had worked for the Brownie movement at the church for a number of years and had been responsible for the floral decoration of the church.
Mrs Wright leaves a widower, Jack, a daughter, Carol and three grandchildren.
A funeral service was held at Trinity Church on Tuesday, March 30, and was conducted by the Rev Paul Allen. Burial was at Yeadon Cemetery.
