A Keighley business is marking the golden anniversary of a world-first this year - and it is looking for people with something special in common to join the celebrations.
Rayner Intraocular Lenses is joining forces with Rayner the optician in Cooke Street to search for anyone who has undergone implant surgery to replace an eye lens as treatment for a cataract.
Manager Robert Chilcott says: "The development of the Rayner Intraocular Lens 50 years ago had a tremendous impact on people's lives. Before these implants were available, surgery left people with their eyesight so badly impaired they had to wear ugly bottle-glass spectacles. To mark the 50th anniversary we will be holding a number of events and seminars, and trying to raise public awareness of the cataract operation. We are looking for local people who have their own story to tell."
Anyone who has undergone the treatment can contact Richard Fern on 01889 567777.
