The 67th annual meeting of the Keighley Rifle and Pistol club was held at the Parkwood Range.

Club chairman, Brian Holmes, said it had been a difficult year for the sport following the Dumblain shooting, but Keighley club members had continue to enjoy success.

Compensation had still not been paid for guns handed in to police over 12 months ago.

The club had introduced competitions for Gallery rifles and planned to introduce an airrifle section.

Treasurer Geoff Barker told the club that membership had dropped due to the ban on hand guns, but the club had heldits own financially.

Match secretary Fred Pickles gave a long report on the many shooting successes of members including the selection of Rod West to shoot for the British police at the European Police championships in Germany, and Michelle Smith's selection to take part in the English School's two-week tour of South Africa.

Members also stood in memory of members Mr George Whitley and Ron Simmons who had died during the year. Mr Whitley was the club's oldest member and introduced the President, Fred Pickles, to the sport over 60 years ago.
