Although not at their best Keighley Schools Under-13's beat Salford Schools 28-14 -- capturing another Super League scalp on their way to the Championship play-off semi-final.
Despite falling behind to Salford's first attack, two converted tries midway through the first half saw them take a lead they never relinquished. Scorers were Simon Bissell (4) and Jason Barnes. Barnes also converted four excellent goals.
Bronte's Craig Thomas put in an excellent tackling display to take the most improved player award.
A very game Clayton side battled to contain Cougar Cubs Under-13's, but were no match for their pack which ran out 60-0 winners.
Try scorers were Simon Bissell (4), Shane Walton, Tim Wilkinson, Ross Pearson, Paul Hardwick, Stuart Baxter (2), Jason Barnes. Man of the match Barnes kicked seven conversions and Andrew Carter one.
Cougar Cubs Under-11's shared the spoils in a thrilling game at Newsome. The cubs left it late though with Keith Shackleton scoring his second try in the final minute. Peter Gower held his nerve to slot the conversion for a well earned draw.
Matthew Lambert was man of the match while Brendan Whitaker, David Iliff and Simon Burgoyne worked hard alongside Shackleton to gain effort awards.
Cubs Under-11's All Stars didn't wake up until the second against Queensbury and were trailing 16-0 at the break. The Cubs came back into the game with tries from Dean Bogle (2), James Corduex (2) and Ryan Taylor. Conversions from Taylor and Corduex completed a well earned victory with Queensbury crossing for one more try.
