Three 100-year-old gravestones have been ripped from the earth by vandals in the remote cemetery of Slack Lane Baptist Church.
Burial secretary Alan Sayer believes at least four people must have been involved in Saturday night's destruction. He says: "Two of the stones were deeply set - about nine inches in the ground. It would have taken quite a few people to turn them over. They were OK during Saturday when we had a wedding but we were told about the damage when we got to church on Sunday. It's ridiculous. These stones have stood for over 100 years and someone has just pushed them over. We're going to need a crane to put them back up."
The cemetery is adjacent to the church, which is near the junction with Slaymaker Lane between Oakworth and Goose Eye.
