It's a family affair for the last two monthly winners in our Search for a Sporting Star competition, run in conjunction with Taywood Homes. Liam and Alistair Houlds-worth have scooped individual prizes for the final month after judges were unable to separate them.
Taywood Homes Sales and Marketing Director David Mackintosh says: "They have both done tremendously well at a range of sports. What has really impressed us is the way Liam and Alistair have excelled in so many sports in such a short space of time."
To mark their achievement the young sporting stars were presented with a cheque each for £100 and two certificates.
The youngsters, from Arncliffe Road, Keighley, have already demonstrated their talent in football and athletics. They are following in the sporting footsteps of sister Rachelle who won last month's award for her goalkeeping prowess.
Liam, 16, has represented both Bronte Middle and Oakbank Grammar schools at running, badminton, football, cricket and athletics. He is West Yorkshire javelin champion and holder of the Bradford schools record for the event.
A keen footballer, he plays for Silsden Under 16s, who have remained unbeaten for the last three years.
Since joining Keighley Golf Club 15 months ago, Liam has got into the swing of the game and reduced his handicap from 28 to 12. Last year he scooped four golfing trophies.
Alistair, 11, has been making an equally striking impression on the football field, where his skills have won him a trial with Manchester Utd. His talent has also alerted scouts at Sheffield Wednesday, where he is currently having trials. At a local level, Alistair plays for Bradford Under 12s and Long Lee Under 12s.
A pupil at Bronte Middle School, Alistair has represented the school at running and football. Like his brother, he has also represented Bronte at badminton. He has also found success on the running track, reaching the national schools final.
The youngster has also made good progress during his ten months as a member of Keighley Golf Club. Playing off a handicap of 23, he was runner-up in three competitions last year.
Judges now have the hard task of deliberating over the monthly winners to select the youngster who will be crowned as this year's 'Sporting Star'.
The grand winner will be announced early in April.
The Keighley News is also delighted to announce that Taywood Homes is continuing its support for the competition.
And it will be bigger and better than before with youngsters now having the chance to win cash prizes for themselves and their school.
