Bradford Bulls will look to try to recapture the high standards they set in the Challenge Cup rout of Warrington last month when the sides go head-to-head again in Super League at Wilderspool on Sunday.
Since their 52-16 cup romp against the Wolves the Bulls have struggled to reach the heights again, apart from a highly committed league win over Leeds Rhinos.
But boosted by the return of up to five key players coach Matthew Elliott believes they can produce a performance to erase the memory of the Easter Monday hammering at St Helens and a less than convincing 26-16 win over Wakefield Trinity at Odsal on Sunday.
"We had to dig much deeper in the games against Leeds, but in terms of the sort of rugby we aim to play the performance against Warrington was easily our best of the season.
"The problem at the moment is that we are losing far too much possession and consequently when we do have it we are tending to be pretty conservative in what we do. But that is certainly not the way they either want or are being coached to play.
"Owing to the amount of games we have had in a short time we have not be able to do the sort of preparation we would like, but I am looking forward to a full week with the squad.
"We will certainly be doing plenty of work with the ball and working with it under pressure. The mood is still very positive and having looked at the Wakefield performance again I feel a little more philosophical about it," added Elliott who was unhappy with the way the game was handled by referee Graham Shaw.
Second-rower Mike Forshaw is the latest injury concern after being forced to pull out of Sunday's game with a rib injury.
But Elliott expects the Great Britain man to be available again along with Stuart Spruce, Tevita Vaikona, Henry Paul and Michael Withers who were also missing.
"I am very optimistic at this stage that they will all be fit to return," said Elliott.
Bulls fans are reminded that the visit to Sheffield Eagles will now be held at Chesterfield soccer club's Saltergate ground on Saturday, June 5, a day earlier than previously announced.
Fears that Leeds centre Marvin Golden will miss next month's Silk Cut Challenge Cup Final with a broken ankle were dispelled by X-rays today.
Golden, deputising for long-term injury victim Richie Blackmore, injured the ankle in yesterday's 22-16 Super League defeat at Sheffield Eagles.
A Leeds spokesman said: "There is no break but until the swelling goes down we won't know the extent of the injury."
