Amateur Rugby League: Queensbury A ended Victoria Rangers' dream of lifting the Hudson & Foster Bradford Cup for the first time in 26 years as they retained the trophy for the third successive season at Parry Lane.
They eventually ran out resounding 42-7 winners.
Bury centre Andrew Senior got their effort under way with two quick tries before the Vic's fought back with a try from centre Phil Greenwood converted by his brother Ray.
When their influential stand off Jason Pounder landed a drop goal - much to the delight of their mascot a huge 'Rooster' - it looked as if a close game was on the cards.
Queensbury's pack leader Shaun Fallon had other ideas and he was instrumental in setting up a try for centre Neil Hobson and powered over himself at the side of the posts shortly afterwards. He converted both to give his side a 20-7 interval lead.
A Fallon penalty after the restart was followed by tries from substitute forward Richard Ingham, hooker Luke Cooper, full back Andrew Barraclough and winger Paul Skelton.
Hobson claimed his second of the game and while Fallon could only manage to convert one of them he walked away with the Man of the Match award which he richly deserved for his fine performance.
The Pennine Premier Division title race is still wide open despite table-topping West Bowling squandering a 12 point lead to draw 18-18 at Lindley Swifts.
Bowling are a point clear of Queensbury but Park Amateurs will draw level if they win their game in hand.
Bowling fielded a patched up outfit and after conceding an early penalty they took the lead when stand off Jason Woolham took on the defence to score at the posts.
He added the extras but a try from ex Huddersfield Giants loose forward Tony Simpson levelled matters at 6-6.
A scorcher from classy centre Martin Tordoff - who raced a full 30 metres to cross under the sticks - was goaled by Woolham and 16-year-old substitute Mark Dunning was rewarded when he followed up his own grubber kick to score a cheeky touchdown.
Woolham duly obliged with the conversion and Bowling appeared to be home and dry at 18-6.
Simpson posted his second to close the gap to 18-12 and the Swifts took further advantage of a tired looking Bowling to cross for another try in the corner.
Shane Whitaker added the touchline conversion with the last kick of the game to leave Bowling with it all to do at Elland tonight kick off 6.30pm.
Queensbury coach Glenn Marriott took the gamble of resting three regulars against Underbank Rangers and was delighted to see his charges post a sparkling 40-4 win.
Stand off Gareth McKinley broke the deadlock with a try and after that the floodgates opened.
Queensbury raced to a 30-0 half-time lead with tries from scrum half Carl Smith (2), second row forward Matthew Galtress, hooker Lee Burnett and centre Chris Hogg.
Steven Gallagher converted three of them.
In the second half Queensbury had to play uphill and into a strong wind.
Smith managed to claim his hat-trick again goaled by Gallagher and Mark Gay charged 60 metres to complete the rout.
Underbank managed a late effort but was well outclassed by a Queensbury side in which props Andrew Senior and Dougie Lumb were outstanding.
