A man being hunted by police in connection with a killing in Bradford was arrested today.

Michael George, 33, was arrested in Leeds and brought to Bradford for questioning about the death of David Leach, said police.

The body of 33-year-old Mr Leach, of Siddal, Halifax, was found in an alleyway near the Discovery Bay club in Manningham Lane on March 22.

The club suffered a fire early yesterday which will force it to close for several weeks.

Diane Lawrence, who owns it with her husband Robbie, believes the blaze may have been started deliberately following recent publicity over the killing.

The cause of yesterday's incident is the subject of an investigation by police, and the fire is being treated as suspicious.

Today Mrs Lawrence said: "I strongly believe that this fire was started deliberately, and it can only have been as a direct result of the publicity The Discovery Bay has received since the killing."

She said the nightclub had been closed since the end of March out of respect for Mr Leach's family. "David was a friend of ours - his timber yard supplied the wood for the floorboards when we decided to set up the business in the 1980s," she said.

Firefighters were called to the nightclub at 3.40am yesterday after a postal worker spotted smoke coming from the building.

Mrs Lawrence said: "I'm just glad there was no one in the place at the time. Bricks and mortar can be repaired.

"The cost of the damage has still to be assessed, but whatever happens, we will be closed for several weeks."

Ian Purcell, West Yorkshire Fire Brigade fire investigations officer, said the matter had now been passed to the police.

"This was a very severe fire which generated extremely hot temperatures, causing extensive damage to the cellar area. The ground floor and first floor were also smoke logged."
