EX-HARRIER Tracey Ambler earned an English vest with an excellent third place in the qualifying Pendle Hill Fell Race on Saturday.

Also running well was Emma Barclay, coming a fine sixth place, and Christine Porrit to the fore in the over-50 category in this 4.5 mile race with 1,500 feet of ascent.

Jason Hemsley continues to do well on the fells, with a 26th place at Pendle, and the 8th the following day at Flower Scar, a four-mile fell race with 1,100 feet of ascent from Todmorden, where he was accompanied by in-form Bob Hamilton, who was first over 40 veteran.

Jason is also doing the Tuesday evening Bunny runs where he recorded 17th place in a strong field with over 250 competitors last week. Also in that race were Ilkley youngsters Michael Pearce and David Kane doing well in the under 16 category, Helen Johnson third lady, Christine Porrit first over 50 lady, and Neil Taylor.

On the roads, Johanne Kerr recorded 42 minutes, and Pete Shields 39 minutes, in the Wakefield 10k last Saturday over an undulating course with strong winds.

The previous weekend Jason Hemsley was 26th with Dave Ibbotson also among the competitors in the Causey Pike Fell Race, a 4.5 mile race with 1,780 feet of ascent near Keswick in the Lake District.

Good luck to the Ilkley Harriers who will be doing the London Marathon this coming weekend.
